About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at Fort McKay First Nation. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, as well as providing financial planning and reporting support to our leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, including monthly closings and annual financial planning and reporting.
  • Reconcile vendor accounts, bank statements, and credit card accounts, ensuring all issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Prepare tax computations and returns, as well as payroll remittances for processing.
  • Prepare journal entries for monthly and year-end closings, and ensure all invoices are correctly coded and costed according to budgets.
  • Mentor junior accountants, providing work direction and technical accounting guidance.
  • Assist with the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as required for the annual external audits.
Key Requirements
  • Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.
  • Accounting designation (CA, CGA, or CMA) is required.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in cost accounting in a computerized accounting environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with accounting software such as ACCPAC.
  • Strong knowledge of standards and best practices pertaining to accounting.
  • Proficient in various computer software applications, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
