About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Engineer to join our team. As an Operations Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the performance of our water and wastewater treatment systems while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

In this challenging and rewarding role, you will be responsible for monitoring system performance, reporting on site operations, and interpreting provincial and federal regulations. You will also develop advanced knowledge of operational impacts of regulatory mechanisms and perform engineering calculations and design work.

You will have the opportunity to assess existing systems, identify areas for improvement, and prepare detailed scope and budget estimates for structural repair and maintenance. Additionally, you will work closely with management, operations, and other stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of water and wastewater treatment systems within a quality management system
  • Report on system performance through the required chain of command and prepare reports for regulatory and contractual compliance
  • Review and interpret provincial and federal regulations, including the Safe Drinking Water Act, Health Protection and Promotion Act, and Ontario Water Resources Act
  • Develop advanced knowledge of operational impacts of regulatory mechanisms and perform engineering calculations and design work
  • Assess existing systems and identify areas for improvement, preparing detailed scope and budget estimates for structural repair and maintenance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technologist, or relevant field
  • Valid G driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • Minimum two years of experience in a similar role
  • Achieved or actively working towards Limited Surface Water (LSW) and Operator in Training (OIT) licenses
  • Strong working knowledge of biological relationships and experience in the design, specification, commissioning, and operation of control equipment for water/wastewater treatment systems
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and high accuracy
  • High level of skill with MS Office 365, AutoCAD, Visio, and other computer software
  • Motivated self-starter with effective communication and teamwork skills
