L3Harris Technologies is a leading global defense and aerospace company that seeks an exceptional Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Sustainability Lead to support its WESCAM division in Waterdown and Toronto, ON.

The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of environmental, health, safety, and sustainability programs. They will have experience setting up and managing EHS programs in industrial and engineering settings and possess a strong project management background.

As an EHS Sustainability Lead, you will lead a small team of professionals and be responsible for implementing and maintaining the policies, programs, and procedures within the L3Harris EHS management system. You will ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, local, and customer EHS requirements across the Sector.

You will serve as a change agent and demonstrate the ability to guide operations leaders in implementing EHS programs, building a zero-injury culture, and minimizing impact on the environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate actively with the organization's leadership to establish policies and directions to achieve the targets and objectives within the EHS program.
  • Lead and cultivate a team of EHS professionals to support actions and meet the site and company EHS goals and compliance obligations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor company environment, health, and safety (EHS) programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local EHS regulations.
  • Work with stakeholders in the organization during space planning, building expansions, and/or other changes in facilities or work areas to ensure EHS requirements and regulations are met.
  • Foster continuous improvement of EHS programs in processes, systems, and products.
  • Conduct workplace surveys, safety audits, and assessments. Advise management of conditions requiring corrective action.
  • Drive Operational Excellence activities across the business with a focus on the EHS and Sustainability pillars.
  • Provide EHS briefings and training sessions as appropriate to fulfill regulatory requirements and foster a safe working environment.
  • Lead EHS committees and engage all employees to take ownership of EHS.
  • Use problem-solving skills and risk assessments during investigations into the root cause of injuries, events, or near misses. Ensure appropriate actions are taken to correct and prevent recurrence of unsafe conditions and/or behaviors.

This role offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
