We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Financial Aid Officer to join our team at Trebas Institute Quebec Inc. in Ontario, Canada. As a key member of our support services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our students have access to the financial resources they need to succeed.
About the Role:
The Financial Aid Officer serves as the primary point of contact for students seeking guidance on funding options, including the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and other available programs. Your expertise will be invaluable in advising students on eligibility requirements and identifying additional funding opportunities. You will also provide comprehensive, student-centered support through various channels, such as in-person meetings, phone calls, emails, and virtual sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundamental Support: Act as the main point person for students requiring information and guidance on available payment terms, OSAP, and other funding programs; clarify application processes, administrative policies, and student responsibilities.
- Student Guidance: Guide students through assessments and appeal processes when necessary; maintain students informed of their financial aid status.
- File Management: Maintain accurate records of student files on our company database (SYS) in compliance with government record-keeping requirements and internal school policies.
- Document Review: Monitor all financial aid documentation activities and follow up with students on incomplete files or missing information.
- Authorization: Authorize the release of financial aid according to Ministry guidelines and program requirements; apply deposits on students' profiles on SYS.
- Counseling: Counsel students on the implications of early withdrawals or program changes on their student grants and loans.
- Payment Records: Maintain records of payments received, upcoming payments, and adjustments to payment plans outlined in student contracts, in accordance with our internal procedures; collect tuition fee payments from students.
- Overdue Payments: Inform students of overdue payments and conduct follow-ups.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports to the Manager, Financial Aid and keep them informed of any issues, concerns, or complex cases.
- Liaison: Serve as a liaison between various departments and the Financial Aid Department to address questions related to financial aid.
- Withdrawal Calculations: Prepare withdrawal calculations and process withdrawal documentation according to Ministry guidelines.
- Ongoing Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Education: Post-secondary education in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
- Customer Service: Minimum of 1 year of front-line customer service experience.
- Experience: Previous experience in administration of financial aid at a private post-secondary school would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge: Working knowledge of provincial financial aid would be considered an asset.
Benefits:
This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range of $50,000 - $65,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
