Research Operations Administrator

Job Summary:
The Research Operations Administrator provides critical support to the departmental project teams, contractors, and stakeholders. This role is responsible for monitoring and reporting on project and research core fund budgets, ensuring projects meet milestones, and supervising and directing assigned research staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development and monitoring of research projects and research core funded budgets, adhering to granting agency guidelines, operational demands, and resource constraints.
- Collaborate and consult with Principal Investigators to analyze situations, project future needs, and develop business plans to source future funds and maximize research capabilities within available resources.
- Direct and supervise assigned research staff, establishing responsibilities, reviewing workload, and adjusting schedules to ensure operational requirements are met.
- Represent the department on the BC Cancer Research Administrators Committee, providing input and recommendations on human resource, financial, and grant process issues.
- Provide leadership in consultation with the Technology Development Office on the handling of research sub-awards, contracts, and agreements related to consortium agreements, technology transfer, intellectual property, and memoranda of understanding.
- Ensure BC Cancer and PHSA policies and procedures are adhered to by all members of the department.
Requirements:
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a recognized business or sciences program, plus a minimum of three (3) years' recent, related experience in a research environment and experience in project management.
- A minimum of one year of supervisory experience is required.
- Demonstrate success in broad business skills, including project management, development of business, strategic, financial, marketing, and forecasting plans, and human resources operations.
