About the Role:

Gay Lea Foods is a Canadian-owned dairy food and beverage company with a portfolio that includes several established brands. We are looking for a skilled Corporate PLC/Automation Specialist to join our team and contribute to the development and production of our wide range of products sold in Retail, Foodservice, Industrial, Co-pack, and Export markets.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and software issues
  • Design and implement site automation strategies and instrumentation
  • Oversee the implementation of controls and automation projects
  • Develop and deliver training programs for staff on application, software, and hardware usage
  • Program PLC and HMI applications for automation and troubleshooting purposes
  • Ensure adherence to Food Safety and Quality protocols
  • Maintain software licenses and updates
  • Support electrical documentation reviews
  • Investigate equipment deviations and anomalies
  • Provide technical support to maintenance teams

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in relevant field
  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial control systems
  • Strong knowledge of process control systems, HMI, and automation
  • Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with variable frequency drives and/or stepper system products
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Flexibility with weekend and after-hours work
