Job Overview



The University of British Columbia is seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Manager to join our team in the Vice President Students Office. As a key member of our finance team, you will play a crucial role in providing accounting, financial management, and budgeting support to multiple units within the office.



Salary



The salary for this position is approximately $60,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience. This is a competitive salary that reflects the skills and qualifications required for the role.



Job Description



The successful candidate will be responsible for:




  • Preparing and processing complex financial documentation and backup for data entry into Workday;
  • Creating budgets and forecasts for portfolio units and analyzing variances and providing explanations for such variances;
  • Investigating and resolving errors and discrepancies in financial data for the various programs;
  • Providing advice on financial matters and acting as the main finance contact for various units;
  • Tracking revenues and expenditures for programs and preparing regular reports to program managers on program budgets.


Required Skills and Qualifications



To be successful in this role, you will need:




  • A strong background in accounting and financial management, preferably with a CPA designation;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Detailed knowledge of UBC policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and CRA regulations;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
