At THOMPSON'S ORCHARDS LTD, we are seeking a skilled Fruit Farm Labourer to join our team. As a Fruit Farm Labourer, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to fruit and vegetable farming, including planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
Key Responsibilities:- Apply the technique of hoeing between rows to maintain crop health and prevent weeds from growing.
- Clear fields of wood and stones to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Grade fruits and vegetables into different grades according to size, shape, color, and volume to maximize market value.
- Guide growing shoots into optimal development positions to promote healthy growth and maximize yields.
- Hand harvest fruits and vegetables, ensuring they are of the highest quality.
- Pack fruits and vegetables for market, taking care to handle them gently to prevent damage.
- Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops, ensuring they receive the necessary care and attention.
- Tie and secure plants to prevent damage and promote healthy growth.
- Harvest crops at the optimal time to ensure maximum quality and flavor.
- Examine products for quality and readiness for market, ensuring they meet our high standards.
As a Fruit Farm Labourer, you will work outdoors in a rural setting, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. You will be required to work in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
Requirements:- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy loads, up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to distinguish between colors and identify different types of fruits and vegetables.
