Compensation Package

The Electrical Maintenance Technician will receive a competitive base remuneration with productivity incentives, premium for evening and night shifts, possibility of overtime, paid vacation with additional personal days, and job security due to working in an essential sector.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will assist other technicians in improving machinery and processes, evaluating electrical systems, identifying issues, and offering solutions to problems in strict accordance with the production system and under the premise of ensuring safety and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot various types of electrical systems and components of the machinery, including shredders, extruders, and conveyor systems.
  • Ensure and increase the reliability, performance, and longevity of equipment: different conveyors, shredders, extruders, filtration systems, and pneumatic, hydraulic, and pumping systems.
  • Diagnose electrical faults in machinery and provide rapid and innovative solutions for equipment breakdowns to minimize production interruptions using diagnostic tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections to ensure machinery operates efficiently and reduce downtime.
  • Create preventive maintenance schedules based on machinery requirements and communicate effectively with the production team to maintain optimal functioning of equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues or hazards, test and calibrate equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Contact the equipment manufacturer for troubleshooting if necessary, send requests to modify electrical systems to improve performance and efficiency, and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections performed on electrical systems and machinery.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance and production teams regarding equipment status and maintenance schedules, collaborate to identify and address equipment issues, keep work areas clean and organized to ensure a safe and efficient work environment, and follow directives and instructions from direct supervisors.
  • Evaluate and comply with industry standards, local electrical codes, and safety regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and follow handover and cleaning procedures at the end of shifts.

Requirements

  • E.P or equivalent technical degree in electrical mechanics or a related field.
  • (3-5) years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repair in an industrial setting.
  • 1 year or more of experience in the recycling field is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals, strong knowledge of electrical systems and mechanical system repairs, including troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team, good communication skills, organization, manual dexterity, patient, perseverant, resourceful, ability to physically bend and frequently lift items when required, ability to lift weights up to 45 pounds/20 kg, good vision, ability to work with people from diverse cultures, highly reliable and consistent, familiarity with safety regulations and procedures related to maintenance and repair work, lockout, tagout, and fall protection procedures.
  • Fluent in English; bilingualism is preferred.

Estimated Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, depending on experience.
