Produce Department Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Produce Manager to join our team at NOFRILLS. As a key member of our store management team, you will be responsible for leading the produce department to achieve exceptional customer satisfaction and sales growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective training programs for produce staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to provide excellent customer service and maintain high-quality produce displays.
- Manage the scheduling of produce staff to meet business needs and ensure adequate coverage during peak periods.
- Handle customer complaints in a professional and efficient manner, ensuring that issues are resolved promptly and to the customer's satisfaction.
- Ensure that all produce staff are aware of and comply with Health and Safety and Food Safety policies, and that all policies are followed by staff.
- Lead and motivate produce staff to achieve sales targets and improve customer satisfaction.
- Delegate and prioritize workload for produce staff to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
- Develop and implement effective merchandising and promotional programs to drive sales and improve customer engagement.
- Recommend and implement sales goals that are aggressive yet achievable, and monitor progress to ensure targets are met.
- Stay up-to-date with market trends and competitor activities to ensure that our produce department remains competitive and innovative.
- Ensure the efficient and effective receiving, storing, and handling of produce to minimize waste and maximize sales.
- Ensure that produce displays are properly signed and maintained to enhance sales and profits.
- Ensure pricing integrity and accuracy to maintain customer trust and confidence.
- Take ownership of the store in the absence of the Franchisee, including key carrying and alarm responsibilities.
- Perform any other duties as required to ensure courteous, friendly service, competitively priced products, and a store that meets and maintains the hygiene standards specified.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of management experience in fresh departments (produce, meat, deli, bakery).
- Demonstrated understanding of critical success factors for the NOFRILLS concept as a discount food store focusing on low price image.
- Demonstrated understanding of the produce department's impact on store performance, including merchandising, inventory management, and pricing.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage people and work with minimal functional direction.
- Solid knowledge of all aspects of the produce area, operations, and products.
- Open availability and flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays according to the needs of the business.
