Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a vital member of the healthcare team at the Health Sciences Centre, providing high-quality patient care and support to patients and families. As a LPN, you will work under the general supervision of the Manager of Patient Care to deliver professional practical nursing services, including independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including vital signs, wound care, and medication administration.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medical treatments, including medications and therapies.
  • Monitor patient progress, identify potential complications, and take appropriate action.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing Education program.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the province of Manitoba.
  • Experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a hospital or healthcare facility.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical records.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IV therapy and medication administration.
  • Knowledge of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluency in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge of Indigenous customs and traditions.
