Senior Controller Job Description

Windfall Mining Group, a leading Canadian gold extraction company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Controller to join its team. As a key member of the finance department, the Senior Controller will play a critical role in ensuring the company's internal control and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the SOX Compliance Program for the company's Canadian assets, ensuring compliance with SEC requirements and the company's SOX policy.
  • Design and implement SOX internal controls, covering ICFR, ICSR, and IT reporting environments, including SAP.
  • Document SOX controls in a Risk and Control Matrix (RACM) and facilitate SOX control testing, including control self-assessments, walkthroughs, and operational effectiveness testing.
  • Oversee the quarterly SOX attestation process for all Canadian assets and regularly report to the group's SOX department.
  • Evaluate SOX report findings, assess the severity of reported audit deficiencies, and follow up with operational process and control managers to ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Manage control owners in Canada to ensure the timely completion of controls and the retention of audit evidence.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • CPA designation (an asset).
  • Master's degree in internal control, risk management, accounting, or a similar governance-related field.
  • At least five years of experience in internal control, governance, risk management, or related areas.
  • Bilingual (French and English) - will need to interact with headquarters.
