Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to the Water Projects Management team, including inspecting and assisting in the identification of deficiencies in AGI-owned Water Management Infrastructure, managing consulting engineering studies for assessment of the infrastructure, preparing Project Implementation Reports (PIR) for rehabilitation and repair of the infrastructure, representing WIOB on project implementation teams, providing standards and guidance on departmental requirements for the projects, and providing civil engineering expertise to the WPM team.

This position will require travel throughout the province to support WIOB's mandate, and the successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders to achieve our goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a University degree in Civil Engineering with advanced courses in geotechnical or hydro technical engineering, and at least five years of related experience in the design, construction, and operation of water management structures such as dams, irrigation canals, and flood control structures. You will also need to be a Professional member with APEGA or eligible for membership. Additional qualifications may include experience in project management, familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety requirements, familiarity with the Alberta Water Act and regulations, and strong supervision and interpersonal skills.
