Job Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a skilled Maintenance Helper to join our team. As a key member of our Facilities Operations unit, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of our facilities, including minor maintenance and carpentry tasks, painting, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and basic repair duties for facilities equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform duties associated with the operation and maintenance of City facilities, including minor maintenance and carpentry tasks, painting, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and basic repair duties for facilities equipment.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and customer service in all areas of the facilities.
  • Work rotational shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends, as required.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure effective and efficient delivery of facilities management and maintenance services.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 10.
  • Up to one month of related experience.
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates are assets.
  • Knowledge of general facility cleanliness and safe work practices, cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, and WHMIS.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
