About the Role

The Obstetrics Registered Nurse plays a critical role in our Women's and Children's Health team, assessing, analyzing, prioritizing, planning, and evaluating care for women and families in normal and complex situations.

The nursing care involves antenatal care, intrapartum care, immediate postpartum care, breastfeeding support, infant care, and care following perinatal loss.

This role contributes to ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The physical demands of the role may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess and analyze patient needs, developing individualized care plans
  2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care
  3. Provide expert care in obstetrics, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care
  4. Support breastfeeding initiation and maintenance
  5. Deliver high-quality care to infants and families
  6. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

Education and Experience:

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO)
  • Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
  • Two years of current experience in Labour & Delivery and/or Special Care Nursery

Skills and Qualities:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
