Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist I to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a key member of our Pharmacy Services team, you will provide high-quality direct patient care and support drug distribution functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care for acute care beds and LTC beds
  • Support drug distribution functions with the technician and/or assistant team
  • Participate in interdisciplinary patient care teams and rounds
  • Collaborate with patients, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care
  • Utilize Additional Prescribing Authorization to optimize patient medication regimens
  • Optimize therapy for acute and chronic disease management
  • Empower patients in managing their medical conditions through promotion of healthy lifestyle choices, education, and direct patient care
  • Facilitate smooth transitions between care settings
  • Participate in professional practice development and growth with support from dedicated Clinical Practice Leaders and pharmacy managers
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP)
  • Additional Prescribing Authority (APA) or awaiting results from APA application
  • Prac ID for lab ordering
  • Recent direct patient care experience (at least 1 year within the last 3 years)
  • Recent Rural Hospital experience working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
  • Ability to use evidence-based medicine in direct patient care
  • Computer literacy skills, good time management, capable of making decisions, and working independently & cooperatively in team environments
