Job Summary:

Wright Canada Holdings Ltd. is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator to join our team in various areas of Manitoba. As an Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment such as mulchers, excavators, and skid steers to perform vegetation management, storm restoration, and work planning services for utility companies and their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment such as mulchers, excavators, and skid steers to perform vegetation management and storm restoration services.
  • Fertilize trees using root injection and soap application for insect control.
  • Perform landscape maintenance, stump grinding, and skid-steer operations.
  • Enforce on-the-job safety practices for crew members and safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 3 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Airbrake endorsement or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as tandem axle grapple trucks and Sennebogen equipment.
  • Grapple truck experience preferred.
  • Experience working around hazardous equipment.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies, including holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
  • Valid First-Aid and CPR certification preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivate with good time management.
  • Flexibility with traveling in and out of town via plane and/or vehicle.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposed to all temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Exposed to nature, including irritating plants, biting or stinging insects, dust, etc.
  • May work on rough terrain.
  • Needs to be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times per day.
