Environmental and Sustainability Engineer

At GHD, we're committed to solving the world's biggest challenges in the areas of environment, water, energy, and urbanization. We're seeking a talented Senior Environmental Project Engineer to join our team in a Project Engineering Design and Construction role, with a specialization in contaminated sites to support our North American team.

About the Role

We're looking for a skilled professional with a strong understanding of Canadian and US environmental legislation. As a Senior Environmental Project Engineer, you'll provide senior leadership and mentorship to junior team members, working on complex and rewarding projects that drive change. You'll be responsible for managing design projects, including project teams, budgets, timelines, and deliverables, as well as managing the development and review of technical environmental reports, drawings, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support strategic pursuits focused on federal sector and private industrial clients
  • Provide senior leadership and mentorship with respect to the completion of environmental remediation projects
  • Work within multi-disciplinary project teams, providing environmental advice to other GHD teams
  • Manage design projects, including project teams, budgets, timelines, and deliverables
  • Manage the development and review of technical environmental reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Opportunity to work on local, national, and global projects, which may at times entail supporting other GHD office locations requiring some travel
  • Support and mentor junior team members in a learning and collaborative atmosphere
Requirements
  • Civil or environmental engineering degree
  • LEED designation considered an asset
  • Experience with developing and implementing strategies for complex remediation and/or risk management
  • Experience in the technical delivery of investigations, designs including drawings and specifications, and construction support for environmental remediation projects in Canada and the US
  • Experience working on Canadian and/or US Federal projects is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of Canadian (including Ontario) environmental legislation
  • Understanding of US environmental legislation considered an asset
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and report writing skills
