The BC SPCA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Facilities to oversee the facilities team and drive the development, maintenance, and procurement of our facilities. This is a key leadership role that reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and requires a strong strategic thinker who can lead a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities plan that aligns with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
- Lead the facilities team and provide guidance on facilities development, maintenance, and procurement.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including capital projects, and ensure timely completion and within budget.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
- Provide expertise and guidance on facilities-related matters, including safety, security, and environmental sustainability.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
- Manage and oversee the facilities budget and ensure effective use of resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, plus a minimum of 8 years of experience in facilities management, including 4 years in a senior leadership role.
- Project management certification or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of construction and maintenance practices, including equipment, methods, materials, insurance, contracts, legal, zoning, industry practices, budgeting, scheduling, and safety requirements.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
- Strong understanding of risk management and experience identifying, documenting, and mitigating key risks.
- Comfortable using project management software and excel-based budgeting and financial analysis.
- Big-picture thinking balanced with strong attention to detail.
- Philosophical harmony with the vision, mission, and strategic directions of the BC SPCA.
