Recreation Assistant

As a Recreation Assistant at Aspira Waterford Barrie Retirement Living, you will play a critical role in enhancing the lives of our residents. Your passion for creating engaging experiences and fostering social connections will make a meaningful impact in our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement recreation programs that cater to the diverse interests and needs of our residents.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader to design and deliver programs that promote social interaction, physical activity, and cognitive stimulation.
  • Assist in monitoring resident interests, needs, and progress, and maintain accurate records of program participation and feedback.
  • Lead activities and special events that promote social interaction among residents, and introduce new residents to the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the recreation team.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or Certificate in recreation/leisure studies or equivalent.
  • Experience working with seniors, including an understanding of motivation concepts with seniors.
  • Understanding of leisure principles and computer proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license (Class F or provincial equivalent, if required).
  • Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario applicants) or Criminal Records Check (British Columbia applicants).
