Recreation Coordinator

As a Recreation Coordinator at Aspira Waterford Barrie Retirement Living, you will play a critical role in enhancing the lives of our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement engaging recreation programs that cater to the diverse interests and needs of our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and revise departmental procedures and programs under the guidance of the Team Leader.
  • Set up activity areas and assist in transporting residents to and from programs, if required.
  • Monitor residents' interests, needs, and progress, and maintain program and resident records according to departmental policies.
  • Promote social interaction among residents by leading assigned activities or special events, and introducing new residents to the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Certificate in recreation/leisure studies or equivalent.
  • Experience in working with seniors, including an understanding of motivation concepts with seniors.
  • Understanding of leisure principles.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license (Class F or provincial equivalent, if required).
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (applicable to Ontario applicants) or Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants).
