Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Elementary Vice Principal to join our team at the York Region District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the principal in the administration of the school, providing leadership and guidance to teachers and staff, and ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the principal in the administration of the school, including supervising teachers and staff, and coordinating school events and activities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to teachers and staff, including coaching and mentoring, and supporting professional development.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students, including addressing systemic barriers and promoting equity and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement curriculum and instructional programs that meet the needs of all students.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and the community, including providing regular updates and reports on student progress and school activities.
Requirements
  • Master of Education or equivalent degree.
  • Five years of successful teaching experience, including experience in two or more divisions and/or specialized areas.
  • Certificate of Qualification and Registration in good standing from the Ontario College of Teachers.
  • Completed Principals qualifications according to Regulation 298, including Section 9 (Principals Certificate Part I and Part II or equivalent).
  • Completed O.C.S.T.A./O.E.C.T.A. Religious Education course, Part 2, with a commitment to complete Specialist or equivalency.
  • Completed Modules I & II of the Boards current Catholic Leadership Program or equivalent.
  • Committed to, or completion of, the Boards Equity and Inclusion Training, Part 1 (or equivalent), with a commitment to complete Part 2 within the first year of appointment.
  • Recommendation from current supervising Superintendent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Assistant to Principal/Acting Principal, Acting Vice-Principal, Consultant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and addressing systemic barriers to equitable educational outcomes for all students.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating safe, inclusive, equitable, learning environments that are free from discrimination.
  • Demonstrated servant leadership management style.
  • Involvement in Special Education programs and curriculum development, implementation, assessment and evaluation.
  • On-going participation in their own professional learning program.
  • Positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, parents and other members of the school community.
