Job Title: Senior DevOps Technical Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Technical Lead to join our team at Iris Energy Limited. As a key member of our IT Development function, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of scalable solutions using AI tools and machine-learning models.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyse, code, test, implement, and update existing or new software and applications to find solutions to the current company's technology needs
  • Design and develop scalable solutions using AI tools and machine-learning models
  • Mentor other peer engineers with workflow and complex software solution buildings with your skills and experience
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and help translate these into technical requirements for the development team
  • Writing testable, scalable, and efficient code and leading code reviews
  • Planning and documenting technical specifications for features or system design
  • Ensuring that the team is up-to-date with the latest technologies and tools, and providing opportunities for training and development
  • Lead the IT Development function, including IT design process and peer review with IREN Partners
  • Conduit and interface with various federal, state, and local authorities regarding IT Development technical compliance
  • Manage various external relationships with regulatory authorities, agencies, and third-party providers
  • Lead the IT development function across all phases, including design, build, integration, operation and maintenance to ensure technical compliance in the jurisdictions IREN is operating in and maximizing uptime
  • Technical lead for planning and building integrations and metric collections, maintaining roadmaps for devops and monitoring all environments and creating KPI's for stakeholders
  • Mitigate technical risk and ensure compliance with codes, permitting and licensing requirements, particularly when scaling an organization across multiple sites, countries and operating jurisdictions
  • Develop data-driven, growth-oriented and 'fit for purpose' programs for implementing new or updating existing IT tools, policies, process, and practices
  • Develop and present strategic insights, plans and initiatives, and ongoing reporting on IT matters to the Executive Leadership team and Board
  • Input, as required, into relevant documents including investor presentations, monthly and quarterly reports, and website / SharePoint content
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a Linux-based environment, with a strong background in leading development teams and working with cryptocurrency mining hardware
  • Knowledge of power management, thermal management, and performance optimization techniques specific to S19 Antminer machines
  • Familiarity with InfluxDB, Telegraf, Grafana, and other data visualization tools
  • Understanding of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, and firewalling
  • Proficient with monitoring/data collection tools, configuration management, and automation tools, such as Ansible or Puppet
  • Linux experience, with a focus on kernel-level programming and embedded systems
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computing Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Agile project management skills (sprints, standups, Kanban, Scrum)
  • Expertise in Python, Rust, and C/C++ programming languages
  • Familiarity with common mining software, such as CGMiner, BFGMiner, or EasyMiner
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization for ASIC-based mining hardware
