As a Logistics Planner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective coordination of inbound and outbound freight movements, including shuttle service activities for all customer orders and manufactured inventory between the carrier and consignment locations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Validate Daily Load Plans: Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to build and validate daily load plans, ensuring optimal service and cost performance.
- Route Interactive and Expedite Requests: Route interactive requests and expedite shipments to ensure timely delivery and meet customer requirements.
- Coordinate Carrier Activities: Ensure carrier receipt of daily load tenders and coordinate appointment acquisition to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Communicate with Internal and External Stakeholders: Communicate frequently with internal teams (transportation, customer support, operations) and external customers (carriers, clients) to ensure consistency in direction and expectations.
- Identify Continuous Improvement Opportunities: Analyze data to identify opportunities for process improvements, resulting in enhanced financial performance and service levels.
- Compliance and Metric Feedback: Identify compliance issues and participate in metric feedback processes to ensure adherence to company standards.
- Yard and Shuttle Service Supervision: Supervise yard and shuttle service activities to ensure efficient operations.
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience: Required
- 0-3 Years of Logistics Industry Experience: Required
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills: Required
- Organizational, Decision Making, Multi-Tasking, and Analytical Skills: Required
- Transportation Management Systems Experience: Preferred
- Fleet Routing System Experience: Preferred
- Multi-Mode Optimization Experience: Preferred
- Advanced Excel/Access Experience: Preferred
- Familiarity with Freight Rates and Carrier Cost Structures: Preferred
