We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental disabilities, and learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with exceptional needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities.
  • Assist students with learning disabilities and speech/language issues, including modifying programs and supporting learning.
  • Participate in pool programs, academic support, and implementing special programs.
  • Support students with physical and sensory disabilities, including lifting, toileting, and pool duties.
  • Collaborate with teaching and other professional staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
Requirements:
  • Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience working with school-aged children with special needs.
  • Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C.
  • Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and educational communication software such as Dragon and Kurzweil.
  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with students, staff, and families.
