About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Education Consultant to join our team at the B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives. As an Education Consultant, you will play a critical role in ensuring that nursing and midwifery education programs in British Columbia meet the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide confidential consultation to registrants and program representatives on the education program review process, including ways to incorporate entry-level competencies and standards of practice.
  • Lead reviews of entry-level nursing and midwifery programs and courses, assessing all evidence submitted during the program review and drafting reports and briefing notes for the Education Program Review Committee.
  • Maintain communication with education program administrators, keeping them informed of the steps and timing of the program review process and ensuring there are no potential or actual conflicts of interest with committee members or site visitors/subject matter experts.
  • Provide leadership and support to the Education Program Review Committee to plan and implement regular policy reviews, including education standards and indicators, and recommend revisions for Board approval.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Education Program Review, to orient committee members to BCCNM's mandate, policies, and processes, and engage the committee in continuous improvement of policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Doctoral or master's degree in nursing or midwifery or a related field.
  • Over ten years of experience in nursing or midwifery positions and three to five years as an educator in an educational institution.
  • Demonstrated experience with curriculum development and evaluation of nursing and midwifery students and program outcomes.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, group facilitation and collaboration skills, and conflict resolution skills to build consensus across groups with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Experience in continuous quality improvement strategy development and short- and long-term strategic planning.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and collaborate with internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts, including social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and knowledge of Indigenous-specific anti-racism and accompanying reports.

We offer a competitive salary range of $117,646 – $123,529 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
