Job Summary

Royal Bank of Canada's Climate Strategy team is driving the overall Enterprise vision to own and accelerate RBC's climate ambition. The team supports strategy delivery while ensuring strong cross-enterprise alignment, with a mandate spanning sustainable finance, sectoral climate targets, and client engagement.

The Senior Manager, Climate Science & Analytics role enables the delivery of RBC's climate commitments by providing research, analytics, and project management in support of the development and implementation of sectoral climate strategies with a focus on financed and facilitated emissions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support strategy & model business ownership for financed and facilitated emissions measurement, with an emphasis on methodological research, prioritization of enhancements, and project management.
  • Implement methodologies for financed and facilitated emissions through proof-of-concept analytical pipelines (using Python, SQL, and Excel), authoring documentation and slides, supporting controls and governance (such as model validation), and collaborating with internal technical and business teams.
  • Provide research & analytics support for the development and implementation of sectoral climate strategies including quantitative and qualitative financial, economic, policy, and disclosure research.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3+ years of data science or analytics in support of strategic initiatives as a consultant or in a corporate function supporting key strategic projects.
  • Expert in analyzing large datasets using Python and SQL and developing quantitative economic/financial modelling in Excel.
  • Experience working in corporate sustainability, and/or sector decarbonization.
  • Experience with structured problem-solving approaches and synthesis of key insights.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects, stakeholders, and timelines simultaneously.
