Job Overview


GFL Environmental is a leading provider of waste management and environmental services. We are currently seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to join our team.


Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.



About the Role


The Shop Foreman will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance and repair of our fleet equipment. This includes assigning duties to maintenance staff, ensuring production deliverables are met, and completing repairs on mechanical systems.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy duty mechanics, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage priorities and organize tasks.



Key Responsibilities



  • Assign duties to fleet maintenance staff.
  • Accountable for production deliverables in time entry and work order completion of reporting staff.
  • Complete repairs on all mechanical systems as required, including engines, transmissions, drivelines, brake systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Participate in the GFL safety program and ensure compliance with all GFL and Fleet Maintenance safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in training employees.
  • Keep the maintenance shop running smoothly and safely.
  • Assist with establishing time standards and productivity standards.
  • Grow the fleet-based maintenance program.


Requirements



  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Certification.
  • Experience with the CVIP Motor Vehicle Inspection Program.
  • CVIP certification preferred but not required.
  • Insite/JPRO experience preferred.
  • Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving abstract required, 1A or 3A Driver's License preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities on a wide range of machinery and equipment.
  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft software, and ability to adapt to new software programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, management priorities, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.
  • Possess own hand tools.
