Environmental Subject Matter Expert - Ecology

ERM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Subject Matter Expert - Ecology to join our team in Smithers, BC, Vancouver, BC, or Calgary, AB. As a key member of our multidisciplinary biodiversity and impact assessment team, you will play a critical role in supporting our Mining and Energy teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the management of large and complex projects, including scope and delivery requirements, budgeting, resourcing, planning, coordinating work, and managing health, safety, and risk aspects.
  • Act as a client point of contact and support an inter-disciplinary team with environmental impact assessment and regulatory permitting, including baseline studies, facility siting and routing studies, land use planning, mitigation, and environmental compliance services.
  • Coordinate field programs, including logistics and resources, and prepare proposals, including development of scopes and cost estimates.
  • Act as a QP in support of field teams, assisting with decision-making processes, triaging of requests, and information sharing across ERM and client teams.
  • Work on multiple projects within client scope, budget, and schedule expectations, ensuring quality standards on project deliverables.
Requirements:
  • B.Sc. degree in Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or related field; M.Sc. preferred.
  • 10+ years of environmental consulting experience, with prior experience in government, mining, or oil and gas sectors considered assets.
  • Knowledge of relevant subject matter and associated operational mitigation measures.
  • Expertise with Federal, Provincial, and Territorial regulations and guidelines pertaining to survey methodologies, environmental assessments, and compliance.
  • Holds relevant professional designation or immediate eligibility.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established health and safety protocols.
  • Ability to lead, follow directions, and take initiative when required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proven people and project management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment.
