Job Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant will provide exceptional customer service, manage patient files, and accurately dispense medications in a fast-paced specialty pharmacy setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service meeting the standards of McKesson Canada, interacting with patients via phone and email.
  • Create patient files in pharmacy software, including Kroll.
  • Manage site calendars, appointment changes, dispensing, and shipping schedules.
  • Accurately dispense medications to ensure timely arrival at the designated destination.
  • Understand third-party billing and resolve issues by contacting adjudicators and plan administrators.
  • Billing prescriptions through pharmacy software, ensuring all required documentation is adequate and appropriate.
  • Schedule and dispense medications to ensure timely arrival at the designated destination.
  • Adhere to relevant guidelines, including McKesson's Standard Operating Procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with external and internal contacts, healthcare professionals, stakeholders, clients, reimbursement coordinators, and private payers.
  • Follow up with patients for outstanding accounts and refills, as well as schedule shipments.
  • Refer medical questions to a pharmacist when interacting with patients.
  • Package medications according to specifications for shipment to customers.
  • Perform other duties, including receiving and inventory management, as assigned by supervising pharmacists or supervisors.

Requirements

  • 0-1 years of experience, with vocational qualification possible.
  • Working knowledge of a retail pharmacy setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn new software programs, with Kroll knowledge an asset.
  • Organizational, time management, and teamwork skills.
  • Accountable and result-oriented, with a high degree of independence.
  • Experience in a retail pharmacy or hospital setting preferred, with specialty pharmacy experience an asset.
  • Proficient in English oral and written communication, with multilingualism an asset.

About the Role

This position requires a high degree of independence, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and managing patient files. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmacy software, including Kroll, and be able to accurately dispense medications in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation
