Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team at Metro. As a key member of our store management team, you will be responsible for assisting the Store Manager in providing day-to-day management of the store, including growing sales, staffing, merchandising, expense control, and delivering a superior shopping experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Store Manager in achieving or exceeding weekly, period, and fiscal year store goals and objectives, including sales, profit, margin targets, shrink targets, and labor targets.
  • Work with the Store Manager to implement various merchandising programs, procedures, and processes designed to maximize operational efficiencies and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Department Managers to establish productivity goals and operational standards, ensuring merchandise is ordered and displayed according to company planograms.
  • Ensure the store is maintained in accordance with all health and safety regulations as established by the company and regulatory authorities.
  • Provide leadership by hiring, training, directing, and developing a staff that is customer-focused, ensuring a positive shopping environment.
  • Actively utilize new technology initiatives to ensure own and staff proficiency.
  • Maintain a pulse on competitive activity in the local market area and provide recommendations to Operations to overcome competitive disadvantages.
  • Participate in store-based initiatives designed to enhance community involvement and enhance the store's image as a supporter of community activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and union business representatives.

Requirements:

  • College or University education.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive management experience.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Good business acumen.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
