Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading and instructing participants in fitness programs and activities at the City of Hamilton's Recreation Centres. The successful candidate will have a strong background in fitness instruction and certification in a relevant discipline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and instruct groups and individuals in fitness programs
  • Maintain qualifications and certifications in current acceptable standards
  • Prepare course outlines and lesson plans according to curriculum guidelines
  • Provide information related to lifestyle awareness and client special needs
  • Monitor the fitness equipment and facility to ensure safety
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions
  • Maintain accurate administrative records
  • Respond to questions and general enquiries from the public and program participants
Qualifications
  • Current certification in a relevant fitness discipline (e.g. Personal Training, Group Fitness Instructor)
  • Minimum of two years of instructional/program delivery experience
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C Certification
  • High Five Training an asset
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, at various locations.
