We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at Baker Tilly. As a key member of our audit and assurance team, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing compilation, review, and audit engagements, including corporate and personal tax returns, HST returns, and bookkeeping.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing engagements, including keeping Partners abreast of progress;
  • Understanding the client's industry and recognizing key performance drivers, business trends, and emerging technical and industry developments;
  • Responsible for identifying and resolving complex and routine accounting, audit, and tax issues;
  • Developing junior staff members by providing technical guidance and mentoring;
  • Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with client personnel, co-workers, and all levels of staff and management.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Canadian CPA designation;
  • 2-3 years post-qualification public accounting experience;
  • Sound knowledge of the CICA Handbook, review procedures, and tax compliance;
  • Ability to provide proactive solutions to clients, partners, and staff on complex assurance issues;
  • Experience in managing and developing staff on engagements;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills;
  • Proven project management and time management skills;
  • Working knowledge of Caseware, Jazzit, and Taxprep an asset;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage changing client deadlines.
