Senior Health and Safety Manager

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Kalesnikoff in the picturesque Kootenay region. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping our health and safety culture, driving compliance with regulatory requirements, and ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
Reporting directly to our Chief Operations Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective health and safety strategies, programs, and procedures that align with our organizational goals. Your expertise will help us maintain a strong commitment to safety, reduce risks, and enhance our overall performance.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety functional plan, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Champion a safety-first culture across all levels of the organization, fostering a collaborative environment where employees feel empowered to report concerns and participate in safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate health and safety practices into our operations, ensuring seamless alignment with our strategic objectives.
- Provide regular updates and guidance to senior leadership on health and safety strategies, risks, legislation, and best practices for continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure effective representation and compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Professional certification in health and safety, such as CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional).
- In-depth knowledge of OHS regulatory requirements and best practices for safety in complex operational environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage and mitigate risks.
- Demonstrated experience in leading safety initiatives, improving safety performance, and developing safety programs and management systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Health & Safety management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally in sectors like manufacturing, mining, or construction.
