We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Support Specialist to join our Global Transaction Banking team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise to our customers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement database structures and schemas to support our file translation platform.
- Monitor database performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Create and enforce data security policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of our systems.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
- Troubleshoot database issues and work with other IT staff to resolve them in a timely manner.
- Develop automation for day-to-day operational database tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of our database systems and processes.
- Train and mentor junior team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations to ensure seamless transitions.
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in database administration and technical support.
- Expert knowledge of relational and embedded database technologies, including SQL server and Microsoft Access.
- Strong understanding of database performance optimization and tuning.
- Experience with performance tuning of MS databases, highly available payment and transactional systems, data replication, and database clusters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively with Dev, QA, Testing, and Operations teams.
