Job Title: Educational Assistant - Support Specialist

Job Summary:

Northern Lights Public Schools is a leading educational institution in Alberta's Lakeland region, committed to providing a supportive learning environment for all students. We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant - Support Specialist to join our team at Bonnyville Centralized High School.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with social skills, behavior skills, self-help, and personal care needs in a one-on-one and classroom setting.
  • Support students with diverse learning styles and abilities, including those with Individual Program Plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement effective educational programs.
  • Provide behavioral strategies and documentation procedures to support student success.
  • Utilize alternate communication strategies to facilitate student learning and engagement.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant.
  • Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies, documentation procedures, and proficiency with computers.
  • Experience working one-on-one and/or in a classroom setting, with a focus on supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Knowledge and experience in alternate communication strategies, including those that address different learning styles.
  • Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing, and/or rehabilitation.
  • SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.
