Child Welfare Manager Position

Sault Community Career Centre is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Child Welfare Manager in our community.
Located in beautiful Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, this role will provide an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families affiliated with Michipicoten First Nation.
About the Role:
- This position will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of all Ganaw-Zhawenjige programs offered through the department.
- The incumbent will be responsible for the direct supervision of a growing team and will work closely with the Executive Officer and other stakeholders to achieve program objectives.
- A key function of the role is to ensure financial practices honour terms of accountability agreements with funders, and that MFN and departmental policies and procedures are adhered to.
Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership: To support the development of MFN Ganaw-Zhawenjige strategic planning and implement goals as established by Chief and Council.
- Finance & Administration: Provide an administrative/monitoring function over Ganaw-Zhawenjige programs and service delivery, as well as the day-to-day operations of Michipicoten's Ganaw-Zhawenjige department.
- Interagency Participation: Actively participate in internal, external, local, and regional committees/groups to coordinate programs and services with Michipicoten First Nation.
- Human Resources Management: Perform day-to-day staff management in accordance with MFN policies and performance expectations.
- Quality Management: Ensure that all programs meet or exceed program objectives.
- Reporting: Submit regular reports or forecasts as required, to the Director of Operations, Executive Officer, Chief and Council or other external representatives.
- Building Relationships: Maintain excellent working relations and communications with external service partners including Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, Algoma Children's Aid Society, Nogdawindamin Family & Child Services and other child welfare agencies.
Requirements:
- A minimum post-secondary degree in social work, social science, or related field.
- Successful completion of the First Nation Child Welfare Advocate (FNCWA) certificate program considered an asset.
- A minimum five (5) years working experience with a First Nation Community in the social services field.
- A minimum five (5) years in a supervisory/management role.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Child, Youth & Family Services Act and the Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children, youth, and families.
- Knowledge of court proceedings involving child welfare and protection matters.
- Knowledge of case management techniques.
Salary Range: $82,953 – $92,410 per annum
