Job Summary

The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly qualified Part-Time Professor to teach a course in software engineering. The successful candidate will have a strong background in professional software engineering practice and ethics, as well as experience in teaching and research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a course in software engineering, including principles of professional practice and ethics, societal and environmental obligations of the software engineer.
  • Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, assignments, and exams.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback.
  • Participate in departmental and faculty-wide initiatives to promote excellence in teaching and research.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, including experience in teaching and research.
  • Strong knowledge of professional software engineering practice and ethics, including societal and environmental obligations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching and research in a university setting.
  • Experience in industry as a software engineer.
