Lead High-Performance Coach for Rhythmic Gymnastics

Gymnastics Canada, the national sport governing body for gymnastics in Canada, is seeking a highly experienced and skilled coach to lead our National Team Group program in Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Overview

The Head National Team Group Coach will be responsible for leading and executing the daily training environment and yearly training/competition plan for our RG Group National Team program. This individual will work closely with our National Team Director, technical staff, and athletes to set the direction of our national team group program on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.

Responsibilities
  • Establish a high-performance training environment that supports World Championship finalist or better Group performances by the World Championships, and qualification for the Olympic Games.
  • Provide leadership in designing, implementing, and evaluating annual and long-term training and competition plans for the RG National Team – Group.
  • Deliver direct coaching services for the RG National Team – Group at Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cups, and other international competitions.
  • Work closely with the National Team Director to manage, monitor, and support the dedicated sport science program and specialists affiliated with the National Team – Group program, as well as the professional development needs for National Team – Group Assistance Coaches.
  • Collaborate with the National Team Director, Senior Program Coordinator, and Program Committee in developing criteria and procedures for training and competition team selection.
National Athlete Development Models
  • Provide technical leadership in implementing the national RG high-performance athlete development model talent identification system, including regional scouting, clinics, and camps.
Coaching Development
  • Assist in developing and implementing a national coaching philosophy to complement the RG Long-Term Athlete Development Model as it pertains to Group development.
  • Serve as a resource person for advanced coaching education programs and mentor developing coaches upon request.
Sport Science and Research (Integrated Support Team)
  • Work with the National Team Director and Senior Program Coordinator to ensure the Sport Science and Research needs of the National Team – Group are met.
  • Take a lead role in implementing athlete performance monitoring and measuring systems, in conjunction with assigned IST professionals.
Administration
  • Work with the National Team Director and other GymCan staff to develop team strategies that foster a professional, respectful, and progressive work and training environment for all persons involved in the RG program.
  • Prepare work plans, reports, and other documents as required by the National Team Director when relevant for GymCan or external agencies.
Qualifications
  • Candidates must possess Level 3 certification from the Coaching Association of Canada or an equivalent Advanced Coaching Diploma, along with international credentials recognized by GymCan and the Coaching Association of Canada.
  • Must have a judging background with a comprehensive understanding of the FIG Code of Points.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to design, lead, and execute daily training environments and yearly training/competition plans for National Team Group programs.
  • Show excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Show demonstrated ability to work with High Performance athletes, professional gymnastics coaches, judges, and other sport leaders in developing world-class high-performance programs.
  • Communicate fluently in English.
  • Hold appropriate legal qualifications to work in Canada, or obtain such qualifications (work visa).
