Data Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Management Coordinator to join our team at the University of Alberta. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and organized individual to lead clinical trial data management activities in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, regulatory requirements, and applicable legislation and privacy.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all clinical trial data management activities, ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement data management plans, including workflow, documentation, quality control, roles, and responsibilities, and timelines.
- Collaborate with investigators, sponsors, and clinical trials teams to execute database development, build, testing, and validation, as well as create supporting manuals and procedural plans.
- Assist in the development of cost estimates for proposals, ensuring alignment with clinical study timelines and expectations.
- Represent the functional group for audits and inspections, review audit reports, and ensure corrective action plans are implemented in a timely manner.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as data management, biomedical informatics, computing science, or information science.
- Experience in pharmaceutical industry or clinical/academic research organizations, with demonstrated experience in implementing data entry tools and maintaining data completeness and accuracy.
- Significant experience in research data lifecycles, from submissions to data collection, quality assurance, data processing, analysis, knowledge translation, and data storage/retention.
- Proficiency in using REDCap and other electronic data capture (EDC) systems for clinical research.
- Strong understanding of Health Canada, FDA, EMA, and other regulatory requirements, as well as ICH/GCP related to data management.
