Job Title:

Communicative Disorder Assistant - Stroke/Speech Language Pathology Program

Job Summary:

Mackenzie Health is seeking a highly skilled Communicative Disorder Assistant to join our team in the Stroke/Speech Language Pathology Program. The successful candidate will provide direct clinical care to patients with communication and dysphagia needs, working collaboratively with Speech Language Pathologists to develop and implement treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct clinical care to patients with communication and dysphagia needs, including therapy and support with augmentative alternative communication tools.
  • Contribute to safe, quality care by aligning services with SLP recommendations and implementing dysphagia management strategies.
  • Collect data on caseload and participate in clinical inter-professional teams.
  • Develop and implement patient and family education programs.
  • Collaborate with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care.
Requirements:
  • Related diploma or degree and Communication Disorders Assistant Graduate Certificate.
  • Knowledge and training in augmentative communication and special communication devices.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professional colleagues and participate in clinical inter-professional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Membership with the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada and/or Speech-Language & Audiology Canada.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a CDA.
  • Experience working with a stroke population.
  • Prior experience in a rehabilitation setting.
