Job Title: Dietary Aide

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences, maintaining proper serving temperatures and adhering to established meal serving times.
  • Assist cooks in preparing and cleaning food, including salads, vegetables, and fruits, while following basic instructions and procedures.
  • Clear plates and trays, load and operate the dishwasher, and clean pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure.
  • Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers, and adhere to established departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire safety, environment, and infection control.
  • Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participate in facility meetings and attend in-service education programs to stay up-to-date on the latest best practices and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion and/or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act, with completion of the program within three years of hire date.
  • Current Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Previous dietary experience in a Long-Term Care (LTC) Home, with a minimum of 0-1 year of experience.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, read and write English, and understand simple verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures, and perform moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
