Job Description

At EightSix Network, we are seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team in a Day Operations role. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will be responsible for providing customers with a convenient and enjoyable shopping experience. You will work to create an inviting shopping environment by meeting customer needs quickly and fully. You will work with the Store Manager to develop strategies and objectives to drive sales and profitability. You will provide leadership to Associates so that these strategies and objectives are executed successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide the Home Depot shopping experience for customers
  • Use the racetrack and coach other Associates and Department Supervisors to use the racetrack to proactively seek and satisfy customers
  • Ensure sufficient scheduling to meet customer demand in all areas of responsibility
  • Train Associates to provide quality customer service
  • Ensure that store events are appropriately scheduled and communicated
  • Recruit and place Sales Associates with the appropriate skills for special order/installs
  • Ensure specialty areas are adequately staffed to meet both scheduled appointments and immediate customer demand
  • Set departmental sales goals and monitor them regularly
  • Recruit, interview applicants, and make recommendations to the store manager about hiring for open positions
  • Make recommendations to the store manager about terminations, promotions, demotions, new associates' rate of pay, and associates' performance-based pay increases
  • Drive productivity on the sales floor
  • Communicate store and Home Depot objectives to Associates
  • Cook, train, and develop Associates by providing both informal and formal job performance-based feedback
  • Communicate clear career paths for Associates
  • Take appropriate actions to minimize turnover in all customer service areas
  • Prepare, lead, and utilize the Chalk Talk process to communicate store sales, event, and promotional activity to all store Associates with a particular focus on Customer Service Associates
  • Assess Associates' training needs as it relates to all aspects of sales and customer service and implement plans for improvement
  • Maintain department profitability through report analysis, identifying trends, defining problems, and developing appropriate responses for assigned departments and store
  • Develop and communicate store standards for Customer Service to Associates
  • Develop strategy with Store Manager and other ASMs to drive store sales and profitability
  • Lead Associates and work with peers and Store Manager to anticipate and solve problems and plan for upcoming events, seasonal changes, etc.
  • Make certain that all daily inspections are completed
  • Follow up on all safety audit, accident reporting, and investigation issues
  • Take an active role in the execution of safety awareness programs
  • Verify deposits, markdowns, deliveries, time slips, refunds, etc.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to open and close the store when scheduled
  • Respond to emergency situations appropriately
