Compensation

The estimated annual compensation for this position is $48,000 - $48,960 CAD, inclusive of bonus if applicable. The pay range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on the applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Automation Systems Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, BC. As a key member of our control systems team, you will be responsible for promoting a safe working environment, troubleshooting and modifying software programs for material handling control systems, and providing first-level escalation support for control system technicians.

You will apply your subject matter expertise in material handling and electronic control systems to maximize building utilization of systems. You will monitor MHE metrics, partner with controls technicians and mechanics to resolve equipment electrical problems, and perform controls systems assessments to maintain and improve equipment reliability.

Additional responsibilities include communicating technical issues and project timelines with building leadership, operations, and maintenance teams. You will develop training plans for control systems technicians and work closely with facility operations leadership, equipment vendors, and parts suppliers to plan and coordinate new technology installations.

This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders, and a thorough understanding of production impacts. You will also be expected to move up to 49 pounds and stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a degree or certificate with a focus in electronic technology or equivalent experience. You must have 5+ years of experience with motor controls, HMI components, programmable logic controls, robotics system components, and SCADA systems. Experience interpreting and modifying mechanical and electrical drawings is also required.

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, 4+ years of experience in the electrical fields or control systems development, troubleshooting, and programming, and 3+ years of experience supporting advanced automation control systems maintenance and development.

Leadership and project management experience, as well as experience with ASRS systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), are highly desirable.
