Drywall Finisher Job Description

At RGZ Cambridge Inc., we are seeking a skilled Drywall Finisher to join our team. As a Drywall Finisher, you will be responsible for applying successive coats of compound and sanding seams and joints to ensure a smooth finish.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply coats of compound and sand seams and joints
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for drywall installation
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding, or swing stages
  • Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms
  • Perform routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair
Work Environment:

As a Drywall Finisher, you will work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. You will be required to work at heights, on scaffolding, or swing stages, and may be exposed to dust, noise, and other hazards.

Requirements:
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in drywall finishing
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Reliability and dependability
