Medical Support Specialist

Saurabh Pandalai Medicine Professional Corporation is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing administrative support in a fast-paced medical environment.
About the Role- This is a permanent position, requiring 37.5 hours of work per week.
- The primary language spoken in this role is English.
- Administer tests using equipment, instruct patients on test procedures and record results, and monitor, check and calibrate auditory equipment.
- Assist health care professionals with patient care and treatment.
- Support physicians in the assessment and treatment of patients.
- Develop information materials for patients, including educational resources and instructions.
- Examine adult clients to assess hearing loss, recommend type of hearing instrument, take earmold impressions and perform follow-up examinations and readjustments.
- Follow through on treatment programs with patients, ensuring they understand their treatment plans and are progressing accordingly.
- Maintain inventories of medications and pharmaceutical products, as well as prescription records.
- Position patients for treatments by chiropractor or machine, following established protocols.
- Clean and maintain equipment, ensuring it remains in good working condition.
- Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies, including setting up and dismantling equipment as needed.
- Reassemble equipment and assemble packs of sterile supplies and instruments for delivery to hospital departments.
- Record information about donors, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Assist chiropractor with patient health education, providing clear and concise information.
- Label and process donated blood, adhering to standardized safety practices.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and instrumentation for re-use according to standardized safety practices.
- Prepare solutions for preservation of specimens, following established protocols.
- Process claims such as health insurance or workers compensation, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Provide post donation care and donor reaction care, responding to any concerns or issues that arise.
- Remove casts, sutures and pins, performing tasks as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Clean and sew up bodies for release to funeral homes, adhering to established protocols.
- Collect statistics, analyzing data to inform treatment plans and improve patient outcomes.
- Maintain supplies, ensuring that all necessary materials are readily available.
- Connect treatment machines to patients, as directed by chiropractor, ensuring safe and effective treatment.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, ensuring that all devices remain in good working order.
- Monitor donors throughout procedure, providing support and care as needed.
- Assist chiropractor with physical examinations, performing tasks as directed.
- Document patient rehabilitation progress, tracking patient outcomes and adjusting treatment plans accordingly.
- Perform general clerical duties, including scheduling appointments and confirming bookings.
- Process files and paperwork, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
- Schedule and confirm appointments, ensuring seamless communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Take earmold impressions and fit and adjust hearing instruments, providing high-quality patient care.
- Take patients' general medical and ophthalmic history, gathering essential information for treatment planning.
- Manage routine office functions, including reception, telephone and booking appointments.
- Organize and maintain inventory, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, with a combination of sitting, standing and walking.
- Manual dexterity and attention to detail are essential skills for this position.
- Ability to distinguish between colors is also required.
- A strong client focus and interpersonal awareness are necessary for success in this role.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are also essential.
- Flexibility, initiative and reliability are key characteristics for this position.
- Prior experience in a similar role or related field is an asset.
