At Medicentres Canada Inc, we are seeking a Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team. This is a permanent, part-time opportunity in Sherwood Park.

The estimated salary for this role is between $45,000 and $60,000 per year, depending on experience.

About the Role

We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. As a Healthcare Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our patients and physicians, executing on our strategic objectives as it relates to clinic operations and patient care.

Responsibilities

  1. Greeting and registering patients, initiating forms, creating billings, and collecting payment for uninsured services.
  2. Escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing patients for physician visits.
  3. Setting up and assisting with minor surgical procedures, pelvic examinations, and IUD insertions.
  4. Performing diagnostic testing as ordered by the physician, including urinalysis, simple blood glucose testing, and pregnancy testing.
  5. Performing COVID rapid antigen testing with both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients.
  6. Executing a variety of care interventions and medical procedures as permitted by the physician within the designated scope of practice.
  7. Aware of our core purpose and core values, performing to these Core Values on an ongoing basis.
  8. Accurately charting any medical procedures or interventions performed in the patient chart.
  9. FOLLOWING standards of cleanliness and safety.
  10. Scheduling and notifying patients of appointments.
  11. Scanning patient documents as required.
  12. Opening mail, receiving faxes, and distributing them appropriately.
  13. Completing daily, weekly, and monthly chore lists.
  14. Understanding physician profiles and executing on requests to properly support physicians.
  15. Actively participating in company initiatives.
  16. Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A medical degree from a school of medicine listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
  • Successful completion of the MCCEE (Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination) or MCCQE 1/MCCQE2 (Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination).
  • Experience with Med Access software is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent clinical and customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in compliance with relevant provincial privacy legislation.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel.
  • CPR – Health Care Provider BLS.
