Railway Operations Manager

The Supervisor, Flagging is a critical role that oversees track protection on internal and external projects for CN. This position is responsible for coordinating a team of unionized and management track employees on assigned territories, ensuring compliance with Engineering best practices, railway standards, methods, and regulations.
Main Responsibilities- Provide on-track protection for external and internal projects on CN property
- Oversee Assistant Supervisors in creating and planning work schedules for present and future operations, adhering to CN regulations and the collective agreement
- Lead a team with clear direction and goals, coaching and guiding employees through regular performance monitoring
- Develop and validate internal and external operational documentation and invoicing
- Investigate and record various situations, including disciplinary measures
- Participate in safety and planning meetings with internal and external departments regarding current and future projects
- Manage the vehicle fleet according to operations and operational needs
- Oversee inventory of products and tools for actual field operations
- Coach Flagging Officers and Assistant Supervisors on protection issues, verify compliance with guidelines, and provide targeted coaching
- Support operations in unforeseen or problematic situations
This role requires working in a combination of office and outdoors environments in various weather conditions, on a shift schedule. The incumbent must be available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidents. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress. Regular travel (50%) throughout the territory is also required.
RequirementsExperience- Rail Operations Management: 3-5 years of experience in management and supervising unionized personnel
- Compliance with safety standards
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Minimum 3 years of experience in railway operation flagging
- Labor Relations (LR): interpreting collective agreements, handling grievances, negotiating with union representatives, disciplinary measures
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
