Job Summary

This is a full-time permanent position available in our Constituency Office, located in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and efficient Constituency Assistant to support the Member of Parliament (MP) in their constituency duties. As the primary point of contact for constituents, you will be responsible for managing the MP's email and correspondence, scheduling meetings and events, and providing administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the office.

The ideal candidate will have superior organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience working in an office setting providing reception or administrative support.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and prioritize the MP's emails and correspondence, ensuring effective communication with constituents and stakeholders.
  • Schedule meetings and events, coordinate travel arrangements, and maintain the MP's agenda.
  • Draft correspondence to Ministers and stakeholders as required.
  • Provide administrative support to the MP and staff, ensuring the flow of operations and achieving goals and priorities.
  • Act as the first line of response with constituents, providing information, advice, and support in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
  • Contact government services on behalf of constituents to obtain more information and follow up on available national programs.
  • Draft responses to constituent emails and letters, including general policy and constituency casework issues.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education from a recognized institution OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Superior organizational skills, good administrative skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Exceptional judgment and interpersonal skills, with the ability to exercise diplomacy when interacting with the public and stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Able to work efficiently under pressure, respond to short-term demands, and adapt to new situations.
  • Ability to speak Inuktitut is strongly desired.
