Your Role

We are seeking an Articling Student to join our Office of the General Counsel for the 2025/2026 articling year. As a member of our dynamic in-house team, you will undertake a broad range of duties, including:

  • Working in each of the OGC's practice areas, including corporate & commercial, litigation & regulatory, employment and privacy.
  • Conducting research on a diverse range of legal matters that impact the firm.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents, such as memoranda, contracts and policies.
  • Staying up-to-date with developments in the law, regulations and case law.
  • Conducting fact-gathering and exposure analysis for pre-litigation matters.
  • Responding to inquiries and collaborating with legal counsel on a wide range of legal files and issues.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • To be currently enrolled in a Common Law program at a recognized law school.
  • To have completed licensing examinations prior to commencing articling.
  • To be eligible to be registered in the Law Society of Ontario's Licensing process and eligible to commence articling in the 2025-2026 licensing cycle with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • To have superior academic credentials.
  • To have sharp legal analytical skills – the ability to analyze information, identify key issues, and manage processes from inception to completion.
  • To have persuasive communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels, both in the legal and business community.
  • To have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present legal opinions, arguments and information in a clear manner.
  • To have excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills to effectively manage a high volume of files and projects with competing deadlines.
  • To have demonstrated commitment to professional ethics and integrity.
  • To have strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative nature, and the ability to work in a cross-team environment.
  • To have high values in teamwork, client/customer service and professionalism.
  • To have the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • To be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
